Smooth Bosonization as a Quantum Canonical Transformation
نویسنده
چکیده
We consider a 1 + 1 dimensional field theory which contains both a complex fermion field and a real scalar field. We then construct a unitary operator that, by a similarity transformation, gives a continuum of equivalent theories which smoothly interpolate between the massive Thirring model and the sineGordon model. This provides an implementation of smooth bosonization proposed by Damgaard et al. as well as an example of a quantum canonical transformation for a quantum field theory.

Hamiltonian Formulation of the Smooth Bosonization
Using the hamiltonian formalism, we investigate the smooth bosonization method in which bosonization and fermionization are carried out through a specific gauge-fixing of an enlarged gauge invariant theory. The generator of the local gauge symmetry, which cannot be derived from the lagrangian of the enlarged theory, is obtained by making a canonical transformation. We also show that the massles...
متن کاملBosonization in four dimensions: The smooth way∗
I investigate bosonization in four dimensions, using the smooth bosonization scheme. I argue that the generalized chiral “phases” of the fermion field corresponding to chiral phase rotations and chiral Poincaré transformations are the appropriate degrees of freedom for bosonization. ’Chiral Poincaré transformations’ are Lorentz transformations and translations with a γ5 included in the generato...
متن کاملSpin-Charge Separated Luttinger Liquid in Arbitrary Spatial Dimensions
A model with a singular forward scattering amplitude for particles with opposite spins in d spatial dimensions is proposed and solved by using the bosonization transformation. This interacting potential leads to the spincharge separation. Thermal properties at low temperature for this Luttinger liquid are discussed. Also, the explicit form of the single-electron Green function is found; it has ...
متن کاملChiral bosonization as a duality.
We demonstrate that the technique of abelian bosonization through duality transformations can be extended to gauging anomalous symmetries. The example of a Dirac fermion theory is first illustrated. This idea is then also applied to bosonize a chiral fermion by gauging its chiral phase symmetry. Two dimensional field theory has long proven to be a fruitful area of investigation. An interesting ...
متن کاملNon-Abelian Bosonization as a Nonholonomic Transformation from a Flat to a Curved Field Space
There exists a simple rule by which path integrals for the motion of a point particle in a flat space can be transformed correctly into those in a curved space. This rule arose from wellestablished methods in the theory of plastic deformations, where crystals with defects are described mathematically by applying active nonholonomic coordinate transformations to ideal crystals. In the context of...
